I have always wondered about the ingredients in my deodorants. Whether it be the solid ones, roll on or sprays. Either way, all I knew was that I had to stop sweating. Was I wrong!
Why should we sweat?
- It maintains proper temperature and keep you from over heating
- Releases toxins supporting your immune system, preventing diseases from toxic over load
- Cleans pores, eliminating pimples, blackheads and acne
So there you go…let your body do its thing! The only thing you have to worry about is the smell. Yes, sweating is good for you but how do you smell? Common deodorants are filled with chemicals that absorb into your skin such as aluminium (been linked to breast cancer and Alzheimer’s disease), parabens, propylene glycol and many others are all linked to hormonal imbalances.
Choose deodorants which are free from aluminium and synthetic ingredients. There are natural ways of creating your own deodorants, less harmful ingredients and half the cost. Many include bi-carb soda, which can be irritating for sensitive skin. Arrowroot is a great alternative for sensitive skin.
How do I get rid of the ‘smell’?
The essential oils are somewhat vital in eliminating the bacteria which are causing the bad smell when you sweat. There is a transition period if you have never used natural deodorants before. Your body will sweat a lot and you might even smell. Fear not, it’s your body’s way of getting rid of all the toxins. You can now purchase products that are purely for detoxing purposes for your pits! Of course, results vary for different people. It took me a good two-three months and I haven’t bought a chemical deodorant ever since. Be patient, let it work. If you can’t be bothered making it, try our natural deodorant products available under Natural Skincare. Good luck!
